Calligraphie workshop: Write for change, zaterdag 28 november 2026

One character. One value. One action.

How can Chinese characters inspire us to contribute to a safer and more respectful society?
In this creative workshop, you will be introduced to the art of Chinese calligraphy. Using brush and ink, you will explore the meaning of characters representing values such as safety, respect, courage and harmony.

As part of "Orange the World: End Violence Against Women", you will choose a character that resonates with you, reflect on its meaning and discover how to turn this value into a concrete action in your everyday life.

Admission is free, but registration is required! This workshop is offered by FEMpions.

Workshop objectives

• Discover Chinese calligraphy and explore personal values.

• Turn a personal value into a concrete action that contributes to a society free from violence.

Who Is Serena Wang?
Originally from Taiwan, Serena Wang sees Chinese calligraphy as a form of mindfulness and creative expression. Through brush and ink, she invites participants to slow down, be present in the moment and connect with their personal values.
The focus is not on mastering the technique, but on the experience and the meaning behind each character.

What is Orange the World?
Orange the World is a global campaign to end violence against women and girls. The campaign takes place every year from 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to 10 December, Human Rights Day.

During this period, a number of activities will be organised in collaboration with the Municipality of Best, Stichting Sunnyside Of Life, Best Library, Lev Best, Lumens, FEMpions, Humanitas, GGzE and Amnesty International.
