Workshop: Planetary Boundaries
Green Cafe invites you to close the Nationale Klimaatweek with the Planetary Boundaries Fresco, a unique hands-on workshop, to learn more about planetary health.
Do you know the boundaries of the planet we call home? Climate change is one boundary among others.
Today, seven of the nine planetary boundaries have been crossed, putting increasing pressure on Earth’s life-support systems.
To secure a safe and just future for all, we must understand how human activities interact with the Earth system, and act decisively to reduce pressures on our planet and its ecosystems.
The Planetary Boundaries Fresco is a 3-hour collaborative, science-based workshop that brings the planetary boundaries framework to life through guided discussions and an interactive card game. Together, you'll explore the processes that regulate Earth’s stability, uncover how human pressures drive changes across the planet, and identify leverage points for action.
What to expect?
The game is organized into 3 phases:
● Collaborative card game:
you gather around a table with a team of fellow participants. Together you link the different issues using 42 illustrated cards, representing the planetary boundaries and the causes and consequences of their transgression.
● Creativity and Reflection:
we take a moment to pause and reflect through creative expression.
● Actions and Accounting:
group exercise to practise system thinking.
